That was what I did for my homework this term. I made the rose out of plastic spoons melted over a candle then stuck together. I enjoyed making it and when I have got a clip to attach I will like using it as a hair clip. I made this because I wanted a new hair accessory and I thought this would look good.

Homework
This term one of our homework tasks was to think of a fun project and do it. I made a hair clip flower out of teaspoons. This is what it looks like:

Armistice Day
Every year on the Saturday closest to the 11th of
November, most of the schools in the Moutere Hills participate in an athletics
event to celebrate Armistice Day. (The day that the signing of the peace treaty
for The Great War was done.)
When everyone came back from the war some of the soldiers
and teachers decided that it would be nice to hold an athletics event to
remember the soldiers and people in the war. They held the event every year on
the 11th of the 11th to celebrate that this was the
anniversary of when the peace treaty was signed.
They kept it at the same date every year until the 1960s
when they changed it to the closest Saturday to the 11th of the 11th
so that the parents could come along as well.
They held many races and competitions but the main one was
the one where each of the schools competed for a trophy called the Peace Shield.
They tried to hold this race at 11am on the day. This changed to the end of the
day when they started holding it on the Saturdays they found that people were
leaving after the race was finished.
So now we still have our athletics day for the primary
schools of the Moutere hills every year.

Daniel in the Lions Den
This term for devotions we are focusing on Daniel in the Lions Den. One of the things that I have learned so far about Daniel and what he did was that he was faithful to God and he never stopped trusting him. When the King saw that God was faithful to Daniel he made everyone believe in Daniels God.

Devotions
This term for devotions we are learning about how God provides for us and the earth. We brainstormed some of the things that God has provided for us. Then we each choose one of the things God has provided and we made a poster each about it.
I chose Oxygen which was one of the subjects under nature. Then I found out what oxygen is and put that on there and found a verse in the bible that had something to do with Oxygen.
I chose Oxygen because without Oxygen we wouldn't be able to survive.

Contractions
This term for writing we’ve been doing a lot of different
types of writing which has helped us find out what we need to learn to put in
our writing. One of the things we noticed that we weren’t very good at was
using contractions in our writing.
To help us remember what contractions are and also remind us
to put them in our writing we have made a display on the wall with laminated
cards that we made with some of the contractions on it.

MoTec
Every Wednesday the year 7&8s go to MoTec. At MoTec we learn things that we might need to use at home like basic sewing, woodwork, cooking and other things like that. This term the year 8s are in the multi Material room and we are sewing ourselves a bag.

Homework
One of our homework tasks this term is to alter a cupcake recipe and then bake it for our family. I decided to do this task for my homework this week. While I was mixing the mixture I added in two tablespoons of honey to the plain cupcake mixture. the muffins turned out to be really nice, they were moist and you could taste the honey without it being too sweet. Here is the recipe:
125g
butter, softened
§ ½ cup,
plus 2 tablespoons of caster sugar
§ 2 heaped
tablespoons of honey
§ 2 large
eggs, at room temperature
§ 1 cup
self-raising flour (or 1 cup standard flour and 1 teaspoon baking powder)
§ 3
tablespoons milk, warmed for ten seconds in microwave
Buttercream Icing
§ 125g
butter, softened
§ 3 cups
icing sugar, sifted
§ ½
teaspoon vanilla essence
§ ¼ cup
milk warmed for ten seconds in microwave
Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line a 12 hole muffin pan
with cupcake cases.
Place the butter, sugar, honey, eggs and flour into a food processor (or
use an electric handheld mixer, it works just as well) and pulse for 10-15
seconds. Pour in the warmed milk and pulse again till combined.
Spoon the mixture evenly into the cases filling each 3/4 full.
Bake for 17 minutes or until skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
To make buttercream icing, cream the butter with an electric mixer until
very pale, about 2-3 minutes. Using low speed, mix in the icing sugar
alternatively with the milk and vanilla. Continue to beat until light and
fluffy.
This is a recipe that I would certainly try again.

Wednesday Trip
On Wednesday, while the year seven and eights were at MoTec, Asher and I went to the library. Well, I guess I’d better be truthful. We actually went to Hot Mamas for a hot chocolate and then we went to the library.
At Hot Mamas it was really nice, there was a fire was going, the hot chocolates were huge and we got marshmallows with them.
After the hot chocolates we walked down to the library with very full stomachs and I got four books called 'Mascot Madness', 'The Dark Rider' and two other books I can’t remember the names of.
So that was our Wednesday morning!

40 Hour Famine
40 Hour Famine
Today is the start of the 40 hour famine and I can't wait! I am going to be sleeping in a box overnight. I feel really sorry for the poor children who can't even get enough to eat for one meal let alone three meals a day. I can't wait until the 40 hour famine because I know I am helping the poor people in different countries.
I like it when I go and collect sponsors for the 40 hour famine because it makes me feel good to see that so many people care about not only themselves but others to. It's sort of amazing to me how many people care.
