Athletics

Athletics Day was on Saturday 10th of November and nearly everyone came. Athletics was fun and I enjoyed it except for the long distance run which I think most people in my group didn't like because lots of us were having trouble breathing afterwards (the worst of it over) but after that we were fine and got on to some easier things like distance throw. After a short break we had a ceremony in remembrance of those who fought in the war and we all took our hats off. At Athletics there was a tuck shop which sold lollies, ice blocks and hot chips which was good because it went cold in parts of the day. At the end of all this there was the races for the shields and, our school won 3 shields for the best average in high jump/long jump, the best average in over ten yr. olds sprints and the best average in track and field. Mrs Rolls Mufti Day

Today we had a Mrs. Rolls mufti day so we had to dress up as Mrs. Rolls or her favourite colour or any thing else to do with her.  I dressed up in her favourite colour green.
Mrs. Rolls didn't know we were going to dress up as her or something she likes but she did know that we were going to wear mufti, until Hannah and Shanara came into the staff room to get the key for our classroom and Mrs. Rolls saw Hannah and she had a blonde curly wig on and Mrs. Rolls guessed that they were dressing up as her and she was right.

Awesome Things - Mummy's Girl

Awesome thing
                                                Mummy’s Girl
Being a mummy’s girl is fun especially when she is a softie. Being a mummy’s girl is fun because she can relate to you and your feelings about things that are happening. That’s why I’m such a mummy’s girl.

Mr Matthews

Image002

We all know its hard having Mrs Rolls leave and, as for our class, well we have to replace Mrs Rolls with a new teacher.  So we got a few teachers come in and none of them are perfect for our class but luckily we found a guy who was perfect for the job and he is Mr Matthews. On Thursday he came to our school to have a visit.  Tori, Monica and Asher took the job of taking him for a tour around the school and at the end of the tour Tori, Monica and Asher had settled in for AVAILLL when Mr Matthews came into our class room to say good bye and to thank Tori, Monica and Asher for taking him for a tour around the school.

Cross Country

On Monday Tasman Bay Christian School participated in a practise Cross Country with Tasman School.
Yr 7’s and 8’s went first and we did 3 laps then the Yr 5’s and 6’s ran 2 laps then the Yr 3’s and under did one lap.
When the race started a lady blew a horn that looks like a fly spray bottle and it hurt your ears when she blew it.
The run was hard because there are rocks and roots of trees and lots of up hills. When I finished the run I was really puffed out and so was everyone else. Most of us came in the top ten, but I didn’t.

Bunnies - Awesome

Bunnies
When you get a pet make sure you get a bunny.  They are so cuddly you could lose them in one. That would be scary, but that won’t happen because bunnies are too precious too lose.
AWESOME

The New Net

On Monday my Grandad and Uncle Ross put up a new net for TBCS school playground.
We all love the net, so now it’s a mission to climb to the top especially when people are sitting on the top and they won’t move out of the way so you can climb down the other side. But it’s still fun to get there first and be able to climb to the top and get down the other side.

Summer Sports

On the 7th of April, the awesome Yr 7s and Yr 8s went to the summer sports at the recreation centre. We had 2 teams: TBCS 1 and TBCS 2 and we had 3 games in rotation.
Some teams started on volleyball, some teams started on Ultimate Frisbee and my team, which was TBCS 2, started on playball and we had a great time versing other teams from other schools.
I loved volleyball the most and our team won 2 volley ball games.
We versed lots of people we knew and we saw people we knew although we didn’t verse them but we still got to say hi to them at lunch time.

I Hate Cinderella - The Step-Sisters

We have been learning about speech marks.

“Hey, Gabby, do you know how much I hate Cinderella?” asked Sammy.
“No, but I know I hate her so much," replied Gabby.
“I hate her all the way to the moon and back,” replied Sammy.
“Yeah, well I hate her to Jupiter and back,” said Gabby.
“Well, I hate her to Mars and back,” cried Sammy.
“Well, I hate her 10x the amount you hate her,” said Gabby
“ Yeah, well, I hate her 100000000x the amount you hate her,” cried Sammy
“Wow, that’s a lot. I can’t even count to 100 so you win, but I still hate Cinderella,” said Gabby

Friday 11th March

On Friday 11th March we had a school walk.
The room 4’s went at 9:00am and started the walk at Marahau and we walked up to Apple Tree Bay.
We made two stops for a drink and a munch then we turned and headed back for Tin Line Bay and met with the rest of the school and had lunch.
After that we all walked back to the start at Marahau.
On the way back from Apple Tree Bay we passed some most amazing waterfalls.  We past about three of them, but I only got the names of two which was Simonette Creek and Goodman’s Gulch,
Mrs Rolls took a photo of me, Shanara, Tui, Tangiwai, Asher, Hannah, and Pamela (my buddy) on some slimy and green rocks.

More Awesome Things - Chores

Simple, plain old chores. :-( Maybe you could spice it up a little, maybe if you're doing the dishwasher you could get mum scared by pretending not to catch them, but if they smash that’s one plate you wont have to dry and put away.

Awesome

Awesome Thing - Bubblegum

Bubblegum
Bubblegum is like a piece of food, except it lasts longer and it's not so much the taste, but playing a sport with bubblegum is awesome only if you choose the right one.

Llike for me I might play volleyball which means rolling the bubblegum into a ball and  tossing it across my mouth with my tongue, but if it gets stuck between my tongue and my mouth,  I will just have to pick another sport.

Awesome!

Swimming Fun

Last Friday Room 3 and 4 went survival swimming in pyjamas and clothes at St Peter Chanel.  It was fun.  We had a ball.

We discovered that it was extremely difficult to swim in heavy clothes.

Here are some photos to show you what we did:

“I’m flying”

We were talking about safety swimming…some of us got an F

This is what happens if you don’t watch the kids!

For the People of Christchurch

We wanted to let the people of Christchurch know that we are thinking of them and praying for them, so we decided to each use our strengths to encourage them.

From Karene

Dear Christchurch,

We hope that all the people who are trapped will be able to get out alive and that there will be no more earthquakes, so you can clean up the city.

We have heard about the robberies and feel sorry for you because you do not deserve any more grief than there already is.

From Hannah

May God give you "the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of despair".  Isaiah 61:3

                            Dear Lord Jesus
Christchurch has just had a very bad experience of a 6.3Earthquake. May you please help all the family and friends that are trapped in buildings and I pray that Christchurch will stop having earthquakes.
May you please bless everybody living in Christchurch and that you will heal all the people that are in hospital from having buildings
collapse on them.

Dear People of Christchurch,
I have heard about the earthquake. I’m glad people from different countries are helping people get out of rubble.
I’m very sorry if you have loved ones who have died or are still trapped.
I’m sorry for some of you that have lost your jobs in Christchurch I’m sorry if you got hurt in the earthquake.
We are thinking of you praying for you and raising money for you.
