Oscar's Homework

For my homework in term 4 I designed a house that was half under water and half above water.

First I drew the plans for the house, then I made a model of it on a program called sketch up and then I made a model of the house out of Lego.

The reason I decided to design a house was because I like architecture and because I know that I will have plans which I can use in the future.

Oscar's poster

This is the poster I made about Charles Darwin who sailed the world on the HMS beagle, a survey ship that was sent to look for exotic animals.
The reason I made thew poster about him was because he would have had to gone through many storms and treacherous reefs to go where he went.

Maths

In Term 2 Room 4 learnt geometry in maths where they learnt about shapes, position and angles.
At the end of the Term they did an astle test to test their knowledge.
After the test they had a chocolate day where they brought in anything that had chocolate in it and then they eat it while watching the movie despicable me.
In term three they will get to chose what topic in maths they have to do, a thing that no other school has ever done before.

Pencil Holders

In Term 2 Room 4 made pencil holders for their offices out of pieces of cardboard, paint and at least 5 toilet rolls.
First they glued the toilet rolls onto the cardboard.
Next they painted the toilets rolls and cardboard and left them to dry in the sun.
When they had dried they put their pencils in them.

They all look fantastic some are big, some are small, some are sparkly and some are plain but they all look great in Room 4s offices.

40 Hour Famine Sleepover

On Wednesday the Twelfth of June 2013  Liam Patu and Pamela Currie hosted a movie and sleepover night for Room 4 only at Tasman Bay Christian School.
Most of the Room 4 Students were there and everyone had a good time.
The purpose of the sleepover was to show the town which we are sponsoring for the forty hour famine.
The town which we are sponsoring is called Bougainville.
Bougainville is an island belonging to Papua New Guinea
The people in Bougainville don't have very good medicine, so people in Bougainville who pass the age of five are lucky, because most children die by 3 years of age due to lack of health.
First we played some games while Mr Painter the electrition set up our new slide projector.
Then we started watching the movie Wreck- It- Ralph.
Next half way through the movie we stopped and played spotlight and then had a dinner of sausages and chips.
Then we finished the movie and went to bed.
The next morning we had a breakfast of toast and milo hot choclate  then we got ready for school.
I think that the sleepover was a great idea.

bridge valley camp

This story is about room4 s three day trip to Bridge Valley Adventure Camp.

Some of the activities were, rock climbing, high ropes, go-karts, archery and lots more. Only high ropes, go-karts and rock climbing need a instructor all the others don’t need one.

My favourite activity was the high ropes. The high ropes are a group of ropes that are strung up in the trees. The ropes are so high up that you have to wear a safety harness with clips to stop yourself falling and a helmet to protect your head.

Another activity I liked was the slippery pole. The slippery pole is a slippery log that is hung from the roof by chains above a mat that’s about half a meter high. The way you use the slippery pole is you are given a pillow and then you climb up onto the log and another person gets on with a pillow and you try to hit the other person off the log with your pillow.

I also liked rock climbing. To do rock climbing you need a harness to clip onto the robotic bilayer that is at the top of the tower. There are four climbs, easy medium hard and extra hard.

On the second evening we were visited by a man from the Otago University called Richard De Hamel who gave room4 a talk about life under the sea. He was really funny because he dressed a girl called Olivia up as a fish.                                                                                                          He dressed another girl called Brooklyn up to show us about what it’s like under the sea.
He also put on a puppet show about the food chain.

The food at Bridge Valley is yum. The meal I liked best was Thursday’s lunch which was fish fingers, chicken nuggets and chips.
