Physical Change
Tuesday the 11th of March Room 4 had a chocolate day for Physical Change. We were seeing how the raw ingredients change to the cooked product. We had to draw a picture of all the raw ingredients on a page and describe the difference between raw and cooked.

Bird House
I made a bird house for birds to
nest in and have somewhere to rest for my homework.
I designed a simple bird
house and draw it out on a nice smooth piece of timber. I had to get my dad to
cut out all of the pieces out with the skill saw. I sanded down all of the
pieces to make the edges smooth and tidy ready to put together.
I grabbed the drill and
screws to put the pieces together. I marked out all of the places where I will
screw the screws in. My dad attached a saw to the drill that cuts out a circle
on the timber. I screwed the entire pieces together ready for painting.
I went into the shed and
picked out my colour of paint to paint the bird house. I painted the top of the
house first and then painted the sides. I had to do three coats of paint to waterproof
it so it can go in the rain.
I found it very tiring
putting it all together but it was worth it. It took me four hours to finish
it. The outcome was brilliant; it looks great and is ready for the birds.

Armistice Day
Armistice Day is a day where
they signed a treaty for peace in World War 1 on November the 11th
1918 11: am. To honour the people they made an Athletics Day. They held all
sorts of events. Returned solders and teacher came back to host the Athletics
Day. They made an event called the Peace Shield for the fastest person from
each school. They had to run 220 yards for the Peace Shield. They try to run
the race at the time of the treaty was signed. The first winner of the Peace
Shield was a girl from Mahana School. Two schools dropped out of the Athletics
day so they added a new school called Tasman Bay Christian School. In the 1960s
they changed the event to the closest Saturday to Armistice Day so parents
could attend.

God Is Our Provider
On Thursday the 1st of august room4 has been making posters about our topic, God Is Our Provider. On our posters we have to pick a topic to talk about so I chose family because I love a caring family. We had to talk about why God gave us a family and what kind of family's we have. There is two family's we have the first one is our related family. The second one is our Christ family. Family's are good for talking to if you don't won't to talk to someone else. Here is a bible verse about family.
Exodus 28:9 Honour your mother and father and god will bless you back.

Homework Posters
For our homework on the last
week of term 2 we had to research about a person that we like.
On our poster we had to talk
about why we chose that person and interesting details and some facts about that person. Here are some that I used for my person, age (22), Born 1990 October 23rd, and has an older brother called Russ Walker.
We got to decorate the
poster with borders backgrounds and more. We got to add photos of our person
and the country flag where he comes from. If other kids from room 4 made their
poster on a computer they could change their font of the words and also they
can use Word Art that is a title designer.
We printed our posters and
laminated them and then stapled them to the wall. It was really awesome
researching a person we like. I hope we get to do it again Mr Matthews.

Motueka High School Making Music
On Monday the 17th of June 2013 me and Caleb Gibson went to Motueka High School for a workshop called making music. The first thing we did was we had to say hello to everyone and say what instrument we play. After t hat we got into groups and had to make a beat. The strange thing was that we had to use wooden poles to make the beat. It was nice listening to the other groups beats. The other groups had to ether use buckets, kitchenware or brushes. The last thing we did was go on garage band where we made online music. We can had drums, guitars, hip hop, country and more. I had lots of fun there and I hope I could go next year.

40 Hour Famine Sleepover
On Wednesday the 12th of June 2013 we had a sleepover at school. Liam Patu and Pamela Currie were the organisers of the sleepover at school for the 40 Hour Famine sleepover in Room 4. This year New Zealand is raising money for Bougainvillea, Papa New Guinea. During the sleepover we had lots of fun like we played spotlight had pillow fight and did what ever we wanted to do but stuff that wasn't silly. For dinner we had fish and chips also a hot dog. We all got to choose where we wanted to sleep. I slept in between Jacob Brooks and Caleb Gibson. The first movie we watched was Wreck-It-Ralph. In the night most of the people couldn't get to sleep but Mr Matthews snored most of the night. In the morning we had toast and milo also in the morning everyone was on their computers and iPods. The best thing I liked was spotlight because we found good hiding places and we looked creepy when we were moving in the dark. I had a good night.
I am glad we raised money because they are the second worst city in the world for kids.

Volcano Adventure
Mysterious Adventure

In the holidays on the first week it was a stormy Sunday night.
I was with my friend in his mum’s car driving to church when about a kilometre away lightning stroke. We came in to Richmond
with water about waist deep. We saw house’s flooded around us. The rain was
pouring down making rivers flooding, massive puddles and threatening flooding
heights.
After
church some people that lived in Richmond couldn’t get home so our pastor
said “If anyone can’t get home they can stay the night”. Raymond’s mum didn't
want to stay there so they came home with us.
We
got to my house and had a biscuit and some chips then Brooklyn’s mum couldn't
get home so she came around to.
|
After two hours some roads in Richmond opened so Raymond and his mum
could get home also Brooklyn’s mum. After fifteen minutes they text us to say
they got home. They were lucky they could get home. When it was time to go to bed I said to my mum” That was one scary
night”. I went to brush my teeth and went to bed. The End

Summer Tournament
On the 26th of
March, room 4 went to the rec centre in Motueka for the summer tournament.
The first sport my team did
was Ultimate Frisbee. Ultimate Frisbee is quite easy to play, one of the teams has
to throw the Frisbee down the court and they have to run and try to get it. If the
team that throws the Frisbee to another team mate and it misses it’s the other
teams turn. When one of teams is close to the semicircle they have to chuck it
to their team mate in the semicircle to score.
Touch was the second sport
we played. To play touch one of the teams has the ball. They hit it with their
foot and they run. They past it to their team mates and they run. If you get
touched you drop the ball and roll it through your legs and one of your team
mates grabs the ball and runs. If you get touched six times it’s the other team’s
ball. You have six players on at a time or seven.
The last sport we did is Volleyball.
One team server’s and the other team tries to hit the ball back over the net. They
try to get it over the net and on the ground to score a point. If it hits the
net or goes out of the court it’s the other teams point.

Bridge Valley
Bridge Valley Adventure camp
This letter is about Room 3's and Room 4's three
day camp at Bridge Valley.
Kayaking was the first activity that I did. I had to grab a life
jacket and a paddle. Before we got into the kayak we had to practice paddling
in the air. We got to paddle around ice-cream Island. We had to jump out of our
kayak like we fell out of a boat. We had to grab our kayak and swim back to
land.
Shooting was a
challenging activity. We used a slug gun to shot the metal bunnies and bottles.
We had to where safety glasses. I shot three bottles and eighteen bunnies.
The best activity I did is the hydro slide. If you go down with a friend you go zooming down, cutting corners. There are a lot of corners so you better be careful if you go down. I said “Do you want to come down with me Oscar?” “Sure”, Said Oscar.
Every Morning,
Lunch and Dinner they made delicious food. Whenever we eat we sang the Adams
family’s grace. Who’s ever table was the loudest got to get their food first.
The best food
I ate there was Thursday Lunch I had fish fingers, chicken nuggets, salad and
hot chips. I think Mr Matthews loved the food so much he wanted to stay there.
Richard De
Hamel from the marine life came to talk to as about marine life and marine food
chain on Thursday night. He went on a pretend adventure with Brooklyn. They stop
in the middle of the ocean and they look over the edge of the boat and Brooklyn
fell into the ocean but there was one problem Brooklyn wasn’t wearing her life
jacket. Rich De Hamel talked about what it would be like
drowning under water. The last thing he talked about was the marine food chain.
Yours sincerely.

MoTec
Today at MoTec me and Caleb made Hawaiian Pizza. We had to make our own dough and toppings. In our crust we were aloud to put cheese, so we did. It was great fun and it tasted great!!!
Just a tip if you make it always put the dough on the on the oven tray other whys it sticks on the bench.
If you make this kind of Pizza we made it with a table spoon of baking powder than yeast and only one cup of flour and no salt plus no water just half a cup of milk. I will like it if you tried it thanks!!!
