Home Work.

Candle Holders
For Homework I made candle holders this picture is one of the candle holders I made.
I made the candle holders from half cut icicle sticks
,a home made ribbon , a tuna can and lots of super glue!
First I got a washed tuna can then I got  different coloured icicle sticks and I sliced them in half
After this I placed super glue on the sticks and placed them around the can.
When the glue dried and the sticks are secure on the can I made a ribbon from a white piece of fabric and glued it on to the holder.

Now that the Candle holder is decorated and done you can place a candle in it .......and enjoy the pretty decoration.

How to Travel :

How to Travel

Travelling is fun, you will discover new places and you will get to see the beauty of this amazing world. Come and join me and I will show you how to travel

Travelling can be hard to do because it can make you very tired. Travelling can also be expensive. First check if where you want to go, is it the mighty Africa, the Statue of Liberty or The Eiffel Tower in Paris? If you know where you’re heading make sure you’re prepared for the circumstances. Know if it's safe to go there and know if the weather will be good enough for the day you’re going. Make sure it is the right choice you’ll be mad if you get to your destination and it isn't what you expected.

Next step is go on the internet at your search web and search for specials to make your trip easier. It's always good to save some money! The Hotel, Motel or Guest House where you will be staying has to be booked before you go. Why? Because then you will know where this place is and when you should be there. Make a list of things you will need to make your trip more sorted and neatly done.

List of things you will need;
A First - Aid kit. It’s always handy to have a backup plan if someone gets hurt. Band aids, Scissors, Cooling gel, Plasters and pain relievers will be needed. You will need extra clothing. Two shirts,2 pairs of Pants, Hats and the other things you will need. You will also need a Bathroom kit that includes a Toothbrush, Washing cloth ,Sope ,Shampoo, Hair brush and other things you will need to keep yourself refreshed and clean as an ice block. You will also need a map so if you get lost you have a plan B.

I think a back pack will work the best because it is easier to carry all your things and it's easier to travel with. Hope you will now know how to have a easy but amazing journey. Enjoy!

Holly the bear

Holly the bear

Holly is her name she is a bear. She has a pink light pink flower on the bottom left on her body. There is also a pink flower on her head on the right side. Her voice is squeaky and soft not very loud. She has black round eyes that are very shiny. She is a friendly bear. She also has a price tag on her side. She is a gentle bear not vicious and angry but rather sweet and cuddly. She is brown with light brown around her snout and she has light brown paws and the inside of her small ears. She has a small black nose the size of a grape corral. She has fur so fluffy and very soft I would hug her all day. She is only 3 years old a very young bear she can speak well and has no problems with punctuation. I think Miss Gibson is her best friend because they are literally attached together .She has short arms and a apple sized head. Holly talked to us and she is very kind to us when she came for the room 4 visit. She is a hand puppet not a string puppet. She lives at the school I think because she is usually around in room one doing shows and making the children laugh. She is funny for a 3 year old bear. Bears are usually scary don’t you think?
I liked Holly because she is so cute and friendly to everyone that knows her.

Marlene-Massive

Massive Practise
Massive is like a stage challenge, it is where we dance and sing to a theme. We enjoy practicing very much because it is active and interesting. We are currently working on an army theme where a man gets shot and rose again. The whole purpose of this theme is for a better future, a brighter future.

We are doing an army dance (the boys) where Liam W is the leader. Liam Patu is the guy that gets shot and he does the fake death and is pretty good at it .Then we have the Poppy dancers that will start dancing in the middle of the story. There are also hippy dancers that join in with the army and then the poppy dancers join in too .We will be singing “we are all in this together” and do our dance moves .We are not done with the Massive theme yet we still have a lot of things to add to the story.

Massive is also where we compete against other schools. Since we are a small group that attended the massive competition we have to work extra hard to make sure our small group makes a big performance and shows the other school what we are made of .We thank everyone that made this possible “Miss Aldridge is helping us and teaching us a few moves and the rest comes from the dancers “.

This is the moment we will always remember, being with our friends, doing something fun together as a group for fun and adventure.

The class sleepover --- Marlene Naude

It was a cultural experience for the 40 hour famine for Papua New Guinea. When school went out we all started setting our sleeping bags out and pillows. The netball girls that had practice went outside to do some training for the netball competition and the children that didn't do any sport went inside. The sleepover at school was only for Room 4.When the netball girls were done with training they went inside and joined  Room 4 .The cloak-bay was full of sleeping bags, bags and other needs. It looked like we were going on camp again, I mean it was packed. Some children brought one bag and the other 3 or 4! Then we had some snacks. We had chips and chocolate!.Then we started watching a movie "Wreck it Ralph",  it wasn't a bad movie at all. Most of the children already saw it but the bad thing was it played then stopped played then stopped but we still enjoyed it. Half way through the movie we had Milo and  biscuits, they were chocolate chip biscuits. Then when we were done we went outside and played flash light it was very fun but also cold and dark.I was hidden in a tree, I was at the very top I couldn't see a thing when I was climbing I didn't notice that I was that far up in the tree. Then someone spotted me in the tree and when I looked down I saw that I was at the top it's a far way down! The children
showed lights at me to let me get out. I got one scratch that's all, I liked that tree.Jessie's feet was numb, he said so he said he can't feel it because of the cold .Everyone enjoyed it (I hope). After spot light we went inside Room 4 and watched the movie further. There was 17 children that means more food and snacks. We paired up in to groups of 2-3 so that every group can have a packet of pop corn of their own. When the movie was done it was dinner time we had sausages and chips with tomato sauce. It was so yummy. After that we had free time,
almost everyone was on their laptops playing games or watching videos. After that we watched half of another movie... then lights out for everyone. In between movies and brakes we had pillow fights to.This sleepover wouldn't have happened without Pamela and Liam P they planned the whole sleepover what we would do, the notices, the snacks and money. The whole class thank's them for making this sleepover come true. Mr Matthews also helped. The next morning everyone watched the other half of the movie and packed up their stuff .Miss Gibson helped the girls with their hair and Mr Matthews helped with getting their sleeping bags rolled up in their bag. Then the buses arrived and school started, all the fun was over but we will do that again sometime I suppose.I guess everyone is going to have a tough time carrying their stuff to the bus this afternoon!

Marlene Naude last 4 weeks

Marlene Naude

Okay let me tell you something we did the last 4 weeks we started

with a idea for maths so we can do better at it and focus on it.Mr Matthews and room 4 came up with a brilliant idea for getting into groups and the goal is to see who has the most marbles (1 task = 1 marble) then the team with the most marbles wins a trip or movie. After all the planning we went to making or writing a recount a recount has a introduction  paragraph and a conclusion. Then this week 31/05/2013 Mr Matthews came up with a plan of making a poem into a rap so you can do it in groups or you can do it alone if you want to,me,Olivia and Brooklyn is in a group we made a Mc Donald's rap it sounds so cool. That turned out good and when we were done with that we went for a fun game outside I was still new with this game but got the hang of it in the end.The sevens team are playing rugby on the 31/05/2013 we hope they win!Today was a fun day here in TBCS the last 2 weeks was very cold for me.The mountains are covered with snow a specially mount Arthur

The Summer Tournament

               The Summer Tournament

The summer tournament was awesome we had 3 sports, Volleyball, Frisbee and Touch rugby.
All the sports were very fun. In Touch rugby almost no one passed it to me. I only had the ball 4 times in the whole game. At least I had scored a point for the team. It was not that bad I still enjoyed it. Fletcher was the one who scored most the points.
In Frisbee we had to throw a Frisbee around to get it to the other side of the netball court, into the score ring. It was very fun but a shame to Fletcher. He tried to catch the Frisbee in practise but did not see a caravan behind him. He tripped over the hook and hurt himself.
In Volleyball we had to slam a soft ball over a net and hope it hits the other side’s ground to get a score. I enjoyed this the most and totally want to do this again someday. We saw trips, slips, jumps, bumps and a few flying balls but it was all worth it we had ties, wins and loses. JL
We had two teams The A team (Winning team) and B team(Fare play team) We did well in the tournament and we enjoyed it.
There were 44 teams in total for all the schools that were participating in the tournament.
Room 4 wants to say thank you for Mr Matthews that shared his company and time for us and helped us on this very special day. We will also say thank you for the bus driver Mr Freeman that got us there safe and sound.

M.O.T.E.C from Marlene

M.O.T.E.C  ( Motueka Technology Centre ) Is teaching us the year 8 how to do material work and sewing .We are making bags at the very moment.
I am making the shoulder bag while others is making draw string bag and barrel bags. M.O.T.E.C  is making sewing fun for us and teaching us how to use the machines
.I am new at all of this because in South Africa we did not have things like sewing class ,so I am learning all the materials and the way to stitch different types of material together
.The others are taking baking and cooking classes and this week they made pizza and was verry yummy and we all shared.

Bridge Valley Camp from Marlene

Bridge Valley Camp
I will tell you all about Bridge Valley Camp and the fun we had in activities .
Activities:
*1.In rock climbing we climbed on a very high handmade rock it was very fun, they put harnesses around you so if you fall or want to get of the rock you don’t get hurt and will get safe on the ground.

2. In shooting we had a lot of fun shooting fake bunnies and shooting bottles. We had to wear special glasses and stand behind the red line
 3. In the confidence course we jumped over walls, climbed over nets, did monkey bars and we had to balance on planks in the air.
 4. Racing trikes was awesome it was like a go kart but with paddles and there is almost no structure, it was fun!
5.In kayaking we kayaked in a pond or lake near the hydro slide and water tramp, it was a wet but fun activity. We played touch and battleships and Pastor Shane tipped my kayak and splashed me with water but at least we had life jackets.
 6. In go karts it was a bumpy ride and me and Jasmine were very fast and didn’t even use the brakes
.
 7. The slippery long was a pillow fight on along that moved tied to a chain.
8. In Ironman we had to do all kinds of stuff in race mode. I did the dive in part (Where you dive of a plat form into the lake and swim to the wharf.)
 9. High ropes were very fun and it’s where you are very high of the ground and do obstacle courses in the air.
10. The two waterslide’s was very fun. The Hydro slide was very long and you had to sit on a mat to go down the slide, it was slippery.
11. In the top 10 team we did a few obstacles like barrel roll where someone should climb on a barrel and hold onto someone and roll the barrel at a point.
12. In archery it was one of the most fun activities, I had 2 bull’s eyes and one in the red and blue.
My favourite activity’s was High ropes because we had to go thru obstacle’s high in the sky, Go karts was awesome it was bumpy and full speed, and Archery I just loved it to pieces. “Why do I like it so much?” asked Olivia. I Love to show my strength and shooting out in nature in a very old weapon .It makes me think of horse riding and shooting targets while I am on my horse.

In between all the activities we had morning tea, breakfast, lunch, free time and dinner. We had things like fish, chicken, chips, salad, cereal and more. For breakfast I had 2 pieces of toast every morning and Mr Matthews had 7 .How does he get that in his tummy? In spotlight we had to touch people with the light of a torch and if u did you need to touch them with your hand .It is like normal touch but just at night time, it was very fun but a boy who tried to touched me ended up punching me. Me and my friends had very fun.
We also had some fun swimming and jumping of the platform into the lake
And the fish guy that we did not listen to at the sea pools in Motueka came back to give us a another lesson at Bridge Valley and we enjoyed it very much he told us the food cycle of marine life (thru puppets) and dressed Olivia as a fish to show us interesting facts and made Brooklyn dress in to all kinds of things to show us how hard it is to life under sea. It was funny and the whole class enjoyed it .
